Dear Partners in Mission,

Statistics show that a staggering 10% of the global population are going hungry. Closer to your home, 1 in 7 Canadians are food insecure. Africa has been particularly vulnerable: about 21% of people on the continent suffered from hunger in 2020, a total of 282 million people. Between 2019 and 2020, in the aftermath of the pandemic, 46 million people became hungry in Africa, and that situation keep escalating as results of the climate change and wars.

Everyone deserves to have access to adequate food! In fact, it is a basic human right and when people don't have access to food, it’s a violation of their rights! 

Food insecurity can have impacts that affect the quality of life for both adults and children. It can lead to physical and mental health conditions, unemployability, inability to go to school, and more. Food is a necessity that enables developing the full potential of each person, ensuring human dignity, and promoting individual and collective well-being. I want to be able to provide this for those in need within Canada and around the world. 

I’m raising funds for and awareness about food insecurity for all through Active in Mission!   

Funds raised will support food programs in Thailand, India, the Philippines, DR Congo, South Sudan, El Salvador, Rwanda, Kenya, Lebanon, Pakistan, Ukraine, AND Canada.
