Have you ever looked into the eyes of hunger?  Sadly, we have.  To speak directly to someone who literally has run out of food is an experience which changes your life.  And over the last few years, things have only grown worse.  One of the results of COVID-19, climate change and wars in different parts of the world is that hunger has increased to the point that it is now affecting 10% of the global population!  Even in Canada, 1 in 7 people are food insecure.

Food insecurity can have many negative impacts on the quality of life of both adults and children. It can lead to physical and mental health conditions, unemployability, an inability to go to school, and more. Food is a necessity that enables people to develop into their full potential, ensuring human dignity, and promoting individual and collective well-being.  We want to do something this summer that will help more people in Canada, in Rwanda and around the world become more food secure.

Together we are going to walk a total of 20 km in two local bird parks between August 12 and 19.  It seems fitting to do our walking in these beautiful areas that provide “food security” for birds in order to raise money for CBM as they seek to provide “food security” for many people around the world.

Funds raised will support food programs in Thailand, India, the Philippines, DR Congo, South Sudan, El Salvador, Kenya, Lebanon, Pakistan, Ukraine, Canada as well as right here in Rwanda.

Will you Get Active with us towards our goal? Our personal goal is $3000, while CBM's overall goal for Active in Mission is $100,000.
